Smart solutions for
national park monitoring.

Brabantse wouden is a national park located in the Flanders region in Belgium, and is a unique landscape where nature, people, and innovation come together. To protect this nature reserve and develop it sustainably, Leuven MindGate organised an innovation competition for Smart Solutions that can be used in the national park.
The project
Sentigrate’s role within the “Recreational insAIghts” project is to apply its expertise in data integration, AI, and smart analytics to transform fragmented recreational data into meaningful, actionable insights. Sentigrate will be responsible for designing and building the data integration layer that connects the diverse data sources – ranging from physical counters to citizen-generated platforms like Strava and Wandelknooppunt – and ensuring their interoperability.
The ultimate goal of this project is to develop a scalable, intelligent system that empowers stakeholders to manage nature areas proactively and collaboratively – enabling resilient, data-driven policy and infrastructure planning that preserves biodiversity while ensuring enjoyable and sustainable recreation.
